 Sounds good. I haven't seen variants as diverting from the default, but
 that sounds reasonable to me. I was under the impression we were trying to
 drop no_* variants, though. You have a valid point, although one that
 counts entirely against having the `default_variants` keyword at all.

 The reason I suggested this patch in the first place was -no_nonfree, and
 this will be fixed, so I'm fine with what you suggested.
