 Hi There,
 Turns out the issue isn;t with tomcat at all;
 Ultimately, I was trying to install the tomcat6 port but the installation
 actually fails while attempting to install commons-fileupload

 Here is the text from terminal;
 sudo port install tomcat6Password:
 --->  Computing dependencies for tomcat6
 --->  Dependencies to be installed: commons-fileupload
 --->  Building commons-fileupload
 Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command failed (see log
 for details)
 Error: Failed to install commons-fileupload
 Log for commons-fileupload is at:
 /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports
 .org_release_ports_java_commons-fileupload/commons-fileupload/main.log
 Error: The following dependencies were not installed: commons-fileupload
 Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.
