Old description:

New description:

 Port glib2 (v 2.28.8) on Tiger 10.4.11 PPC using arch ppc64 fails during
 the configure phase. The main.log contains "`:info:configure checking for
 res_query... configure: error: not found`".

 Reproducible: always[[br]]
 Steps to reproduce: `port install glib2` (or a package that requires
 it)[[br]]
 Result: `Error: Failed to install glib2`[[br]]
 Expected result: successful install

Comment(by ryandesign@…):

 Building 64-bit on Tiger is problematic in general and I advise you not to
 do it.

 Building 64-bit on PowerPC isn't particularly useful unless you need to
 access more than 4GB of memory from a single program.

 Building glib2 64-bit on PowerPC has already been reported not to work in
 #31221 it's a different error message and there is a patch there; does
 that help this issue as well? I don't have a G5 to test this with.
