 This problem is still present in Xcode 4.3. The best course of action
 would be to open the .xcode project using an older version of Xcode (Xcode
 3 will convert those projects, IIRC) to convert them to .xcodeproj.
 Another course of action would be to write a tool that will translate the
 .xcode into an .xcodeproj.
