 Not reading the above carefully yet, I assume from what you write that
 when you include the qt4 portgroup then gnuplot is not installed into
 $[prefix]/bin, but when you just include qt4-mac directly then gnuplot is
 installed correctly?  Seems like a configure issue, most likely.  I'll
 have time to look at this in the next couple of weeks, if it's still an
 issue then.
