 For gnucash: it will still need guile 1.8, so we'll need to keep it around
 as guile18. It would probably require patching gnucash to find guile18 in
 its new location, as we did back when guile was updated to 1.8 (and
 gnucash was still using 1.6).

 I imagine the same is true of at least some of the other dependents...
