Comment:

 Well, it should be used on whatever linkers support it, but it is default
 on SL and earlier.

 I got this from the ld(1) manpage on Leopard which includes '-no_pie' even
 though it looks like /usr/bin/ld doesn't actually support it (based on a
 quick check of "strings" output... sigh).
