 I'm having trouble getting Gconf to run, which let me to try Gconf-sanity-
 check-2. It brings up the following error message:

 Could not resolve the address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system"
 in the configuration file "/opt/local/etc/gconf/2/path": Failed: Could not
 make directory `/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system': No such file or directory
