 mymacports:  I do not think your troubles are due to bugs in the updated
 portfiles. These ports are tricky and require some extra thought when
 installing. I suggest you try to troubleshoot this some more on your own.
 If you continue to have trouble, you might try the macprots-users email
 list. This ticket has been closed (your original report pertained to ports
 that have now been updated).

 hint 1: you should be more explicit with the variants for vtk5, something
 like: sudo port -u install vtk5 -tcltk -x11 +python27
 hint 2: uninstall the py26 ports; they probably are not hurting anything,
 but they might be causing some strange conflict
