Comment:

 This is a common problem we're seeing with Mountain Lion's version of sed.
 It happens when sed is asked to replace characters in a file which has a
 strange character encoding. The solution is to tell sed to assume the C
 locale.

 As a workaround try:
 {{{
 sudo port install dsh destroot.env LANG=C
 }}}
 or
 {{{
 sudo port install dsh destroot.env LC_CTYPE=C
 }}}
