Comment:

 Where are you seeing gcc-4.2 required? We should be specifying an
 appropriate compiler explicitly; for example in the attached main.log you
 can see that the configure command is:

 /opt/local/bin/perl5.12 Makefile.PL INSTALLDIRS=vendor CC="/usr/bin/clang"
 LD="/usr/bin/clang"
 }}}
