Comment:

 The log says "ld: malformed version number: 0.2.6.0". Seems the version of
 ld you have enforces the idea that a library version number should be only
 three parts. (The ld I've got with Xcode 4.4.1 silently truncates it to
 three parts and the build succeeds.) I need to look up how to do string
 manipulation in a Makefile so that we can patch this. It's not an upstream
 issue since it's our existing patch that's setting the library version
 number at all.
