 Attached is an example of failure to correctly include the eps into the
 pdf file. I've included the dvi file: u.dvi. And u.pdf was made using
 dvipdfm u. The shifts.eps file is the file that needs to be included into
 the pdf. I tested dvips -f u > u.ps and that works fine and of course, I
 can always use Preview to create a pdf file from ps.
