 Ryan,

 I appreciate the candor of your reply. I'll tell you what I'll do... if I
 find a problem with a Makefile of a package, I will try to report it to
 the original (Linux) committers. Hopefully they will fix it under Linux
 and in the process it'll also get fixed under Mac. I will only report
 issues to you if the problem is specific to your port (in practice, I
 doubt this will ever occur).
