Comment:

 You or anybody else is free to submit a patch to update the
 thunderbird-x11 port to a more recent version, or to submit a new
 thunderbird port that does not use X11.

 I didn't quite understand your sentence including the remark "although it
 automatically update", but just for clarity, any software installed by
 MacPorts should ''not'' include any kind of automatic updating facility;
 all updates of the software should be handled by MacPorts.
