New description:

 Hi,

 I tried to install swftools (0.9.1 in the available ports) with the latest
 Mac Ports release 2.0.3 on Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion. But it failed the log is
 complaining GCC is too old. Of course I ran the macport selffupdate, and I
 have the latest Xcode 4.2.1 installed

Comment:

 Of course the error message is wrong; swftools is just under the mistaken
 impression that every compiler one might use to compile it is gcc. In this
 case, we're using clang; clang's version number happens to be lower than
 gcc's, though it is just as (or more) capable than gcc.
