 I'm trying to setup a seconds instance of macport so I'm able to attempt
 to start contributing to mac ports. I did the following and found that
 rsync doesn't appear to use the --prefix specified at configure.

 PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin ; export PATH;
 MP_PREFIX=/Users/john/tmp/macports-test ;
 sudo rm -rf $MP_PREFIX ;
 mkdir $MP_PREFIX ;
 ./configure --prefix=$MP_PREFIX --with-applications-
 dir=$MP_PREFIX/Applications ;
 make ;
 sudo make install ;
 PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:$MP_PREFIX/bin ; export PATH;
 sudo port -v selfupdate ;
 sudo port install git-core ;
 }}}

 I get the following error.
