 You can try editing `$(port work p5.12-locale-
 gettext)/gettext-1.05/Makefile.PL` and remove and/or comment the line
 {{{
 open(STDERR, ">/dev/null");
 }}}
 try again and paste and/or attach the output.

 Also, please try port clean p5.12-locale-gettext, try again and attach the
 main.log.
