 unless you're running klipper or one of the other tools mentioned in the
 ubuntu bug, this is probably some sort of interaction with the X11
 clipboard <-> Mac pasteboard synchronization XQuartz does by default.  You
 can try disabling that in the X11.app preferences and see if formulas copy
 correctly.
