 I have the same crash as noted below.  This is a new install of digikam
 and macports.  The last thing I see before crash is the Tip of the Day
 window. Any ideas?

 through the initial setup assistant, displays the Tip of the Day window
 with the buttons drawn but no tip text displayed, and then crashes.
