 The compiler doesn't use `DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH`, the loader does. Ideally you
 wouldn't have to set `DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH`, because the binary you're trying
 to run knows where it's dependent libraries are.

 Does R not work without setting `DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH`? Why are you setting
 `DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH`?
