 I succeeded with Apple's gcc-4.2 (from http://r.research.att.com/tools,
 not the apple-gcc-42 port, but it's the essentially the same compiler).

 Compiler version info: i686-apple-darwin11-gcc-4.2.1 (GCC) 4.2.1 (Apple
 Inc. build 5666) (dot 3)
