 Okay. I think that I've figured it out. On 10.6 and earlier the threading
 intrinsics don't exist. I think the solution is to edit the `user.hpp`
 file for 10.6 and earlier as suggested in the StackOverflow answer. (The
 link above is bad, the correct link is

 I'll try rolling this in as fast as I can.
