 I had the same problem with OSX 10.8, but Aquaterm seemed to be the real
 problem. Apparently I needed to accept an Apple license for Xcode. Once I
 did this (in Terminal)
    ~$ sudo xcodebuild -license
 and accepted Apple's terms, I was able to install Aquaterm and then
 Gnuplot with no problems.
