 I assume the last two lines of your example transcript above are
 transposed?

 I believe in the discussion on the mailing list we decided that nobody
 could remember why we weren't always building with threads, that Apple and
 other UNIX OS distributions use threads in their perl distribution, and
 that we should do so as well, and remove the option to not do so.
