 For issue #34730 I added a "--without-gtk" configure option. Someone with
 more AC knowledge then me might want to look this over; though it builds
 fine on my system and without linking to gtk2.

 I added the patch from ticket #34519 to aid in testing and fixing both
 tickets. This patch did not hinder building but I lack the means to test
 that it solves the problem it was intend for.
