 The log says:

 So I guess this uses Carbon, which is an old API, but which should still
 be available in Lion. Are you sure your Xcode is installed properly,
 including separately installing the command line tools from within the
 Xcode app?

 Also, it looks like HandBrake 0.9.6 was released in February, so it might
 be worthwhile for someone to try to update the port to that version.
