 grep -r /usr/bin/gcc-4.2 ${prefix}[[BR]]
 showed that there are loads of references (in configuration files) to
 /usr/bin/gcc-4.2 which does not exist at all[[BR]]
 adding symlinks for gcc-4.2 and g++-4.2 and reinstalling ports solved the
 problem, but this workaround is really ugly[[BR]]
 please consider fixing problems with compiler detection
