Comment:

 The proper fix for this issue wasn't to resort to llvm-gcc-4.2 to pass
 -std=c89 [[BR]]
 on CFLAGS to eliminate the duplicate inline symbol linkage error.

 undefined or duplicate symbols while linking[[BR]]

 clang defaults to gnu99, while gcc defaults to gnu89. This causes problems
 with the inline and restrict keywords (and possibly others). inline does
 different things in gnu89/gnu99
