 I added main.4.log, which is my failed build log with the same error
 message.  This is a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.7.3, MacPorts 2.0.4.  I
 issued the commands

 {{{
 sudo port clean vxl
 }}}

 then

 {{{
 sudo port install vxl
 }}}
