 I didn't try. I upgraded only to get

 this bug] fixed, because it breaks lua-tikz, which is what I use for my
 plots.

 Making gnuplot depend on a "devel" port does not seem a good idea to me.
 "devel" ports may introduce disruptive changes in a high frequency,
 requiring somebody to clean up in this very frequency. MacPorts is about
 packaging and distribution, so the aim should be maximum stability.
 Therefore, even a hypothetical risk should be avoided IMHO.

 As I proposed before: we should upgrade gnuplot to 4.6.0, and take care of
 the other enhancements in separate tickets.
