Comment:

 It will be down until a server administrator appears, diagnoses and fixes
 the problem. Our usual sysadmin is not here this week. I do not know what
 hours our emergency backup sysadmin is keeping this week, but at the
 moment it's 11:20 PM in California so we may have to wait until morning.
 He's been emailed about the problem and I'm sure he'll resolve it as soon
 as he's able.

 In the mean time, there are methods other than rsync to sync your ports
 tree, for example svn (which all the MacPorts developers use), and the svn
 server is still up. Instructions for setting that up are here:
 wiki:howto/SyncingWithSVN.
