Comment:

 It looks like the current mplayer-devel port requires and open TCP port
 3690. I'm on a machine behind a firewall I don't control, and this command
 doesn't pull down any files:

 Would it be an acceptable solution to use the source snapshot, such as

   http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/mplayer-export-snapshot.tar.bz2

 The downside is that there doesn't seem to be an archive of snapshots. Is
 there a workaround for people in my situation?
