 PREFIX, BLAS and LAPACK arguments MacPorts would have set for you, so at
 that point you're not actually using atlas, plus the library will get the
 wrong install_name. So you may as well install qrupdate without atlas

 Thanks, at this point I just really want to get Octave built. But I can
 see why this isn't a real solution.
