 Please try now with the python3 branch of the git repository (it is also
 backwards compatible with python 2), using clang. I've made the
 necessary adjustments, and it compiles and runs with clang 3.1 without a
 problem in my GNU/Linux machine. It was much more straightforward than I
 had expected...

 I hope it works, since I will be glad in ditching apple-gcc.
