 Thanks Cal,

 The dependency error is transitive, pandoc -> hs-pandoc-types -> syb.
 AFAICT, the only "syb" package is "hs-platform-syb", which depends on "hs-
 platform-ghc".

 So maybe the real error is not what I reported, but that the package "syb"
 is simply missing.  However, trying to get hs-platform-syb to stand in for
 it might be a problem, and leads to this issue of ghc vs. hs-platform-ghc.
