 Hi,

 Following the MacPorts uninstall tutorial
 (http://guide.macports.org/#installing.macports.uninstalling), after
 trying to remove "all remaining traces" I had my desktop and documents
 wiped out, and till now, I was not able to recover anything.

 Can someone help with this ? Or at least tell me what went wrong ?

 Below the instructions I followed, just like in the tutorial :

 alf$ sudo rm -rf \   [[BR]]
 > /opt/local \     [[BR]]
 > /Applications/MacPorts \       [[BR]]
 > /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.* \[[BR]]
 > /Library/Receipts/DarwinPorts*.pkg \[[BR]]
 > /Library/Receipts/Macports*.pkg \[[BR]]
 > /Library/StartupItems/DarwinPortsStartup \[[BR]]
 > /Library/Tcl/darwinports1.0 \[[BR]]
 > /Library/Tcl/macports1.0 \[[BR]]
