 Sorry for not filling those in.  A little more background: The file mod
 date on X11 app is May 4, 2012, so I don't believe that X11 was updated
 during my last Mac Software Update.  The version of X11 is 2.6.4.  I just
 installed Xquartz 2.7.4 and can launch pcb now.  I didn't rebuild pcb or
 any dependencies.  In fact, I did no port operations between testing with
 X11, which hung, and Xquartz which works.
