 And now, after resolving #37131 (which was the reason I was trying to
 install docbook-utils at all), I can't reproduce the problem—even if I
 revert the change I made to fix that ticket. I don't really understand
 why. Maybe my docbook xml catalog just needed to rebuilt—which happened
 when I deactivated/reactivated docbook-xml-4.1.2.
