 I can't seem to build plplot on a macbook retina i7, os 10.8.2. I have
 attached the log file.

 In the log there is a note for "fatal error: 'AquaTerm/AQTAdapter.h' file
 not found" which is strange since I do have at:
 /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/AquaTerm.framework/Versions/A/Headers/AQTAdapter.h
