 today I upgraded mythtv on the Linux machine to an 0.26pre version.

 You cannot mix versions--we only have a 0.25 version on MacPorts so there
 is no way to work with your server now that it is at 0.26.  If you made a
 pre-upgrade backup (which normally happens automatically), you may be able
 to downgrade your server.  Otherwise, there is little way to debug this
 further at the moment.

 I hope to add a mythtv-core.26 port but haven't done any testing at this
 point so it will be some time before it is committed.
