 Are you sure it is a right way to go?  What about all new standard library
 extensions and c++11 support in latest gcc?  The whole point (for me) to
 install a new gcc is to use those extensions...

 I was having similar errors and the problem was always with mixing
 compilers.  Though it is annoying sometimes, I would say that not mixing
 compiler version is a better choice.
