 "port outdated" looks at the epoch+version+revision. And yes, absolutely,
 ports do get fixed all the time without the epoch, version or revision
 getting increased. The revision is only increased if the change would
 alter the files that a port installs.

 Another problem with this suggestion is that what you're asking for is a
 way to be notified when a port is fixed, but we already have a mechanism
 in place for that: this issue tracker. If a port is broken, you need to
 file a ticket in this issue tracker (or verify that one has already been
 filed) so that we are made aware of the problem and someone can begin
 working on it. You will receive email notification when the ticket is
 resolved, or if further information is required of you in order to resolve
 it.
