 I tried running 'port install libcxxabi' on Snow Leopard and it initially
 failed to build because it couldn't find the libunwind types. Running
 'port install libunwind-headers' before running 'port install libcxxabi'
 fixes the problem, so I assume there is a missing dependency here...
