 I have been searching this site's database extensively, and while I have

 unfortunately, my understanding of macports is slim enough to make it
 difficult for me to distinguish between simialr or duplicate errors.

 I am attempting to install a program called stimfit using macports. The
 official install guide can be found here:
 http://www.stimfit.org/doc/sphinx/osx_install_guide/building.html

 On the final step of the install, I am confronted with the following
 error:

 failed
 Please see the log file for port stimfit for details:

 Also, the failure happened during the Stimfit build. Report the error to
 the Stimfit developers.
