 I was going to try that yesterday but I had to wait for svn to finish
 checking out texlive trunk. :-)

 It looks like it's still an issue. The questionable character encodings
 are in the usage() text for makejvf.

 It also looks like adding `-Wno-invalid-source-encoding` to clang's cflags
 is a sufficient workaround, so there's that...
