 You're welcome; I learned quite a bit along the way, so win-win? Anyway,
 I'm glad you can read images now. If you don't mind me asking, what does
 "port installed" return for you? I'm trying to track down why my octave-
 devel install isn't working.

 I'm closing this ticket; I would say "works for me" but it doesn't :)
