Comment:

 I think this ticket is obsolete since the switch to the `hs-cabal-install`
 port, which actually provides `/opt/local/bin/cabal`. Please do not use
 cabal's built-in method to update it, but rather file a bug and have it
 updated in MacPorts, if that happens again. MacPorts does not use cabal to
 install haskell software in `/opt/local`.
