 Did you try making sure that you had the latest version of your ports
 installed?

 sudo port selfupdate
 sudo port upgrade outdated
 sudo port install gnuplot

 To me this looks as if {{{pango}}} was fetched from the server where it
 was linked against a newer version of {{{libpng}}} than you have installed
 on the system or something along those lines. The compatibility version on
 my computer in 33, even though I'm not exactly sure what that number
 means.

 Most probably this is not a problem related to {{{gnuplot}}} per-se, the
 problem is only manifested when you install a "random" port depending on
 problematic libraries.
