 Your screenshot shows a quartz graphics device. That's why it says "Quartz
 ..." in the title bar. The only way to use cairo in R on OS X is to open
 an x11 graphics device using the optional 'type = "cairo"' argument. See
 ?x11. R does run just fine without x11, it just doesn't use cairo.
